22 Years' Teaching Experience
25 Years' Performing Experience
Paul Speidel is a recognized name in the Boston area both as a professional musician and a respected guitar instructor. He has been teaching all facets of guitar privately since 1983, and currently instructs between 35 and 40 guitar & electric bass students a week. His students' ages range from 7 to 70!
Teaching Philosophy
While it is not unusual to find performing musicians who teach private lessons, Paul combines his distinctive perspective as a professional musician with a commitment to the personal and musical growth of each of his students. His approach to each student is unique, tailoring guitar technique and music fundamentals to the student's individual learning styles and musical tastes. Paul's goal is to aid in the student's creative process with relevant basic, intermediate or advanced skills so they can enjoy making their own music.

Payment for lessons is made on a monthly basis, due on the first lesson of each month.
1) I have a 24-hour cancellation policy. Cancelled lessons are not charged for, except for cancellations made within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson time, regardless of the reason -- then the time is charged for. This allows me at least one day to schedule a make-up lesson in your time slot.
2) (i) In the event that you cancel your lesson more than two weeks consecutively, regardless of the reason, I will need to either charge you for each cancelled lesson after the second week, or give your time slot to another student. In other words, you may cancel up to two lessons in a row, keep your time slot, and I will not charge you for the missed lessons; but from the third cancellation on, I will need to either charge you for the time, or give your slot to another student on my waiting list.
(ii) If you will be away more than two weeks consecutively and want to hold your slot, you may do so by covering 50% of the rate for the lessons missed starting with the third week you are gone.
3) I don't charge for my vacation or personal time, but please note that since I am not affiliated with the public schools, I do not observe their schedules of activity. If there is any question as to whether we are on for a regularly scheduled lesson when school is out, please double check with me before skipping the lesson!
How You Can Reach Me
The best time to reach me in person is in the morning, Monday - Friday. I'm generally in lessons from noon till late-evening and check my messages again at the end of the day. Please feel free to call between your lessons if you have any questions regarding materials or scheduling.
